I studied psychology and family studies at the University of New Hampshire. While attending the University of New Hampshire I became passionate for families going through turmoil and enhanced my skills in Family Mediation. I received research grants in my work in social psychology. I studied and worked under Murray Straus, an internationally influential professor/researcher and founder of the field of family violence research. After my undergraduate training, I entered the corporate world to pursue a career in the legal field to tap into my love for advocacy and research. Working for one of the top leading pharmaceutical companies, I enhanced my advocacy and research skills even more. More importantly, after years of travel and hard work it brought me to a crossroad where I had to choose to continue a career that I think I should do or a career that I knew I wanted more than anything. So with courage and much vulnerability, I left a well paying stable corporate job and got a job as a mental health worker at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital and was accepted to Fordham University’s Graduate Program for Social Work. This is when my unbelievably rewarding journey began. After Four Winds, I did case management and counseling for dual diagnosis low income clients. Much of my training early in my career came from working as a therapist for Center for Hope/Family Centers in Darien CT working with families dealing with loss and/or critical illness. Today I own a private practice in Fairfield CT.
